Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), a method that optimises fertilisation, gives couples a chance at parenthood.

Who is suitable for iUI

Having said that, it may still be a fertility treatment to consider if you and your spouse are unable to get pregnant due to the following reasons:

  • Mild reduction in sperm count or quality.
  • Unexplained subfertility.
  • Sexual dysfunction where there is difficulty with penetration.
  • When the spouse is away and hence intercourse is not possible.
  • You or your spouse has subfertility issues.
  • Other indications deemed as medically suitable by your doctor.
Our obstetricians will also examine your abdomen to ascertain the position and size of the baby. In the later weeks of pregnancy, your baby’s heartbeat will also be detected using ultrasound.

Sperm Collection & Processing

Upon insemination, a semen sample is gathered through masturbation following a period of abstinence (3 to 5 days). The semen undergoes processing to ensure optimal sperm selection.

Ovulation Monitoring

Your gynaecologist will carefully monitor your ovulation, typically administering an injection of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and other medication. This process induces egg release and schedules IUI approximately 36 hours after the injection.

Insemination

After confirming and inducing ovulation, your gynaecologist performs the IUI procedure. They introduce processed sperm, which has undergone meticulous viability assessment, into the uterus using a delicate plastic tube. The completion of this step marks the end of the IUI process.

Test Of Pregnancy

Around two weeks after the IUI procedure, the clinic will administer a pregnancy test to determine the success of the treatment.

Cost of IUI Procedure

The IUI procedure starts at $1000, offering couples an economical alternative for fertility treatment. Additional costs may vary depending on the unique needs of each couple.
