Frequent Q&A
Couples who have been trying to conceive for 12 months or more without success, or those with known fertility concerns, should conside this package. It’s also beneficial for couples who are planning to start a family in the near future and want to proactively assess their fertility status. Women over 35 are particularly encouraged to undergo screening due to age-related decline in fertility.
Before your appointment, you can continue to eat and drink normally, there is no need to fast. However, it is advisable to limit your alcohol intake and avoid smoking, as these can affect your results.
For male patients, you should avoid sexual intercourse for at least 3-4 days, but no more than four days, before your test. This will ensure the sperm count is not affected and help give an accurate measure of your fertility health.
During your consultation, our fertility specialist will review your medical history, discuss your concerns, and explain the testing procedures in detail. They will also answer any questions you may have and help you to understand the results once they are available.
The entire process, from initial consultation to receiving results, typically takes around 2-4 weeks. The timeframe can vary slightly depending on the individual tests required and the availability of appointments.
At the clinic, he will be taken to a private production room, where he can produce a sperm sample. If the patient finds it difficult to produce a sample on the day, the patient can reschedule the appointment or collect a sample at home. At home, the patient will need to use the sperm collection container provided by the clinic and drop it off within an hour of it being produced. They will also have to ensure that the sample isn’t exposed to any extreme hot or cold temperatures. This test will help assess sperm health, including the volume, shape and movement.
The woman will undergo an anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) blood test (during her Day 2 to Day 4 of menses) to measure her ovarian reserve (egg supply) and likely response to treatment. Additionally, she will have a pelvic ultrasound scan (during her Day 10 to Day 14 of her menses), which is a pelvic ultrasound that counts the number of antral follicles. These are small fluid-filled sacs inside the ovaries that contain eggs. This scan provides an insight into how many eggs can be collected if fertility treatment is necessary and examines the condition of her womb to check for any abnormalities that may impact fertility.
